John Nichols, president and CEO of Champlain Valley Telecasting, has announced that WFFF-TV (Fox 44) became the fourth major broadcasting network affiliate serving Burlington, Vt./Plattsburgh, N.Y., the nation's 91st-largest television market, with its Aug. 31 broadcast of Fox's first regular-season National Football League game. WFFF-TV will carry Fox's entire line-up of prime-time series, morning and afternoon programs and weekend Fox news and sports telecasts. Fox 44 is programmed by Heritage Media Corp. Inc., which also owns and operates the NBC affiliate WPTZ-TV. The local CBS affiliate, WCAX, which had a secondary affiliation with Fox, ceased broadcasting Fox Sports programming Aug. 9 and FKN programming on Sept. 6.
