Samuel D. Ostrow founded
Ostrow & Partners in 1994, after twenty-five years with major
public relations consultancies, including serving as head of the
Public Affairs and Crisis Management practices of two of the ten
largest firms.
Among the corporations for which Mr. Ostrow
has developed Corporate Public Affairs programs are Sandoz
Pharmaceuticals, Willis Corroon, Electrolux, Mellon Bank, Saudi
Arabian Marketing and Refining Company, Toyota Motor Sales USA,
In-Store Promotions, Inc., Lagardere Group (Matra-Hachette), Saatchi
& Saatchi Plc, The Music Connection Corporation and Service
Experts. In the Issues & Crisis Management area he has developed
strategies and directed programs for Sandoz, Wyeth-Ayerst, J&J,
Merck and Warner-Lambert in pharmaceuticals; Mellon Bank, Thomson
McKinnon, Willis Corroon and Chubb in financial services; Brooklyn
Union Gas, Samarec, McDonald's, Sandoz, Tambrands, the Aluminum
Association, Crown Butte and Hudson Cedar on environmental issues;
Canon USA and Toyota on U.S-Japan trade issues; Bacardi, McDonald's
and M&M/Mars on food safety issues; TWA on airline safety; and
LILCO on nuclear power plant emergency plans. He has directed
communications in over 60 corporate mergers and acquisitions,
representing acquirers as well as targets, and has developed and
directed Investor Relations programs for companies ranging from the
Dow 30 to start-ups in the computer and biotechnology fields.
Mr. Ostrow is a frequent writer and speaker on public
relations topics. Articles by him have appeared in Reputation
Management, The Corporate Director, Financial
World, Inside PR, The National Law Journal,
Public Relations Journal and recently on the Los Angeles
Times syndicated wire. He was keynote speaker at a recent United
Nations forum on The Corporate Response to Terrorism and has made
presentations at the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association, the
Financial Executives Institute, Boston University School of
Communications, and chapters of the Public Relations Society of
America, American Trial Lawyers Association and National Investor
Relations Institute.
Mr. Ostrow is past president of the
Chicago Chapter of the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI);
a former director of the New York Chapter of NIRI; and a director of
Global Liability Management SA, the international crisis management
consortium. He is president of the Pound Ridge Association, a
founding member of the Citizens' Committee for the Hiram Halle
Library, a member of the Dartmouth College Alumni Council, President
of his Dartmouth College class, a Director of the Stamford Boys
& Girls Club and an honors graduate of The John Marshall Law
School.
