J. Grant Monahon, Principal,
Chief Operating Officer

J. Grant Monahon is AEW’s Chief Operating Officer and a member of the firm’s Management Committee, Investment Committee and Investment Policy Group. He has over 25 years of experience in real estate law and investments and formerly served as the firm’s General Counsel. Prior to joining AEW in 1987, Grant was a partner with a major Boston law firm. As the head of that firm’s real estate finance department, he represented a wide variety of institutional clients, both domestic and international, in complex equity and debt transactions. He is the former Chairman of the General Counsel section of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Managers. Grant is a graduate of Dartmouth College (B.A.) and Georgetown University Law Center (J.D.).
