Attorney John Lewis is
a shareholder in the Borofsky, Lewis, Amodeo-Vickery Professional
Association practicing in its Portsmouth office. As a Fulbright Scholar
from Dartmouth College Class of 1967, John studied at the Institut D'Etude
Politique of the University of Grenoble, France. After graduating from
Columbia Law School in 1973, John clerked for the Chief Judge of the
Federal District Court in Cleveland, Ohio and worked as an Assistant
Regional Attorney with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in
Philadelphia. Thereafter for about five years, John practiced with the New
York law firm of Proskauer Rose Goetz & Mendelsohn as an attorney in
its Labor Department where he concentrated his practice on employment
discrimination issues and handled many litigated cases in federal and
state courts and before numerous administrative agencies.
John joined
the firm as a partner in 1982, concentrating his practice in the area of
personal injury, family law, workers' compensation, and employment law.
John has participated as a guest speaker on various media programs
answering questions on employee and employer relations, workers'
compensation issues and personal injury topics.
Currently,
John is the Chairman of the New Hampshire State Board of Education. He is
active in his local community having served on the Oyster River School
District School Board from 1992-1995 and as a long-term member of the
Board of Directors of Lamprey Health Care in Newmarket and
Raymond. John is a member of the American Bar Association, the New
Hampshire Bar Association and the New Hampshire Trial Lawyers Association.
He is licensed to practice in New Hampshire, Maine and New York.
John lives in
Durham with his wife Cindy and their three children. Cindy Lewis is a
well-known New Hampshire based
artist.
