Biography
Colonel Theresa Schneider was born and raised in New Jersey, and attended Physical Therapy School at the University of Delaware. While at Delaware she won an ROTC Scholarship, and as a Distinguished Military Graduate, was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Army Medical Specialist Corps in 1984. As a member of the Army Medical Department, COL Schneider has worked in a variety of assignments to include: Staff Physical Therapist then Assistant Chief, Physical Therapy, General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital, Fort Leonard Wood; Chief Physical Therapy, Second Infantry Division, Republic of South Korea; Assistant Chief and Education Coordinator, Physical Therapy Section, Letterman Army Medical Center, Presidio of San Francisco; Chief Physical Therapy, Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital and the 115th Field Hospital, Fort Polk; Health Promotion Coordinator then Assistant Commandant, United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, Fort Bliss; Executive Officer, Task Force Med Eagle VI, Operation Joint Forge, Bosnia and Herzegovina; Health Care Administrative Resident, 21st Combat Support Hospital, Fort Hood; Chief Physical Therapy Section, Reynolds Army Community Hospital, Fort Sill; Army Medical Specialist Corps Staff Officer, Office of the Command Surgeon, then Executive Officer, Deputy Chief of Staff, G1, Forces Command, Fort McPherson; and most recently, Allied Health Staff Officer and Physical Therapy Consultant, Office of The Surgeon General. Additionally, COL Schneider served as the Assistant Chief, Army Medical Specialist Corps and the 19th Chief of the Physical Therapist Section from August 2003 to June 2007. Presently, she commands the US Army Medical Department Activity, Bavaria, Germany.
COL Schneider holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Therapy, a Master of Arts in Education, a Master of Health Services Administration, and a Master of Strategic Studies. She is a graduate of the Command and General Staff College and the U.S. Army War College.
COL Schneider’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service Medal (5 Oak Leaf Clusters), the Army Commendation Medal (3 Oak Leaf Clusters), the Army Achievement Medal; the National Defense Service Medal; the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; the Korean Defense Service Medal; the Humanitarian Service Medal, the NATO Medal, the Parachutist Badge, the Expert Field Medical Badge, the Army Staff Badge, the Order of Military Medical Merit, and The Surgeon General’s “A” Proficiency designator.
