In December 1990, Wineman deployed with the 123rd Medical Detachment (Dental Services) to Southwest Asia, in support to Operation Desert Shield/Storm, providing dental emergency medicine to more than 30,000 Iraqi prisoners of war and 17 percent of the total dental treatment for the military personnel in Southwest Asia.
Wineman is a graduate of the resident Command and General Staff Officers College, Fort Leavenworth, KS, as well as the Army Medical Department Officer Basic and Advanced Courses.
He is board certified in comprehensive dentistry, a Diplomate of the Federal Services Board of General Dentistry; a Certified Healthcare Executive by the American College of Healthcare Executives, and a member of the American Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry. His military awards include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal (one oak leaf cluster), Army Commendation Medal (one oak leaf cluster), Army Achievement Medal, the Expert Field Medical Badge and the German Sports Medal. In 1993, Wineman was inducted into the Order of Military Medical Merit.
